What is

FLIGHT

Aim: To learn about flight and aerodynamics.

  • In your groups of 3, you will make a paper plane and measure its distance and behavior.
  • In groups of 3, you will make a water rocket and record its distance and behavior.

Definition:

4 forces of flight:

  1. Gravity
  2. Thrust
  3. Lift
  4. drag

Paper Plane:

Material:

1.
2.

Steps:

1.
2.
3.

Findings:
[Without clip: 5 meters]
[with clip 4 meters]
Plane Type
Distance
Behavior
Normal
5 metersSmooth, Straight line

Ailerons
3 metersCurved

Paper clip

4 metersStraight line.

Conclusion: The smoother the plane is the more speed it go's.
The paper plane that was normal flew 5 meters in a Smooth, Straight line.

The paper plane that had ailerons flew 3 meters in a Surved line

The paper plane that had a paper clip flew 4 meters in a Straight line
